Our mission is to produce competent paraglider pilots, not simply "SAFA" license holders. We pride ourselves on the quality of our student pilots, many who have become some of the best and most accomplished in the in industry
Paragliding Queensland is one of the longest continuously operating schools in Australia. We've been teaching people like you, the art of paragliding in the Gold Coast Hinterland since 1993.
If you simply want to get through 8 days of training as quickly as possible, and believe that this will give you the skills necessary to competently fly your paraglider in a wide variety of conditions, then maybe our teaching style may not work for you. Contrary to many peoples expectations, paragliding is not an easy sport to learn… or at least to learn to do well. Once airborne, flying a paraglider in smooth conditions is deceptively easy. The pendulum stability of a paraglider makes it want to fly in a straight line when in smooth air.
But the launching (takeoff) process of a paraglider on the other hand, is almost exactly the opposite. The glider seems to want to do everything other than what you want it to do. And this is where your skill as a well trained pilot becomes an asset which will repay you over and over again with stress-less launching, flying and landing.
Our training is the most thorough offered by any school, anywhere in Australia or overseas, and thoroughness takes time. Yes, some students are "naturally gifted" and learn quite quickly. But even those students realise that there is so much to learn in the process of becoming a "good" pilot. So if you are looking for training that goes ABOVE AND BEYOND the minimum required for the issue of your initial SAFA “PG-2” rating, and are willing to spend the time and effort to achieve those skills, then Paragliding Queensland look forward to welcoming you on board and helping you find your “piece of the sky”.
